My best "spa experiences" are all about the way that your
five senses are made to feel; it's about aroma, relaxation, soothing sounds,
elegant surroundings, refreshment. We went to Miraval 2 years ago and it was
great. Spas have a distinct aroma...the aroma of relaxation. Lavender and
Chamomile are both wonderful "soothing" scents.
My sense of sound is very acute. They played my favorite
relaxing music, that was mood enhancing sounds of nature. This is a great way
to tell our bodies to slow down and relax. We will never forget
it.

"This Diva craves two pairs of hands kneading my body like sourdough
bread,
while the scent of jasmine lifts my senses to the
heavens."

"Ahhh, the spa. My excitement begins the day I book the
appointment. It could be months away, but just the idea of getting to go is a
little rush and puts pep in my step for a few hours. The day of the spa
appointment, I wake up feeling happy that my day will be filled with pampering.
Typically, I try to take extra care of myself on those days by eating a healthy
breakfast, drinking lots of water, and working out. I like to get to the spa an
hour or so early to enjoy the facility with a steam and to wash away the mental
stresses that have been on my mind. My spa soul craves hot stone massage. The
stones just add that extra element of warmth to the relaxation of the massage.
I also enjoy trying something I’ve never done before, such as a wrap or mud
treatment. I don’t spend a lot of time on my feet, so I also enjoy getting a
pedicure so that I leave the spa feeling happy all the way down to my toes!
Pedicures typically last quite awhile, and I like having that reminder of my spa
visit long after my experience.

"I have had many spa experiences, both good and bad. One of
my best spa experiences was, of course, at the Spa Terra. I stayed at the
Meritage Resort on a retreat just for mom in November 2008. The spa is in a
beautiful setting, and the spa itself is gorgeous! I did a entire package
involving wine. My passion is wine, so it was fun to immerse myself in it
literally! This spa experience differed from my usual, so I remember wondering
if I would enjoy it as much. Oh, my gosh, did I ever! I started by steaming in
the steam room, then had a grape scrub and wrap, followed by a massage and light
lunch. I liked that I stayed with the same specialist during the entire
experience – she was fantastic! Afterward, the wine and cheese luncheon with
fresh honeycomb was so wonderful! I also shopped til I dropped in the gift
shop, and practically skipped back to my room with glee. Being in Napa for
four days, I did this on my second day, and it really set the tone in making my
Mommy Vacation a wonderful, relaxing, and memorable experience!"

"My favorite of all time was the time I flew with my best
friend, Amy (another spa diva!) to Sydney in January 2008 - 14 hour flight from LAX and we were both exhausted. We
booked a noon massage, got to the spa in downtown Sydney at 8am and spent the morning
alternating between laying out in the hot Australian summer sun and dipping in
the mineral pool. At noon we went into the couples room (which was
awesome - although we aren't a couple we both loved it!) and had an hour of the
most amazing "anti jetlag" massage with aromatherapy.
Afterward, we took leisurely showers and went back to the airport for
the rest of our journey to Tasmania
later that day - rested, refreshed, revitalized and ready to go!
All that said - Amy still says her favorite massage of all
time was at Spa Terra!"
